OUR DEBUT RELEASE
HALF PAST DEAD - EP
HPD was never something we did just as a hobby. We were never what you would call a “garage band”. We had and still have real aspirations, and within the short time of just setting up the social media pages and creating our logo, we were out playing shows and rehearsing. What started out as a setlist of covers turned over into a full set of original songs. I decided that the songs we had were destined to be recorded so I set out and found a local recording studio and after a couple of months we had released our self-titled debut EP.
There was a specific reason why I wanted our first release to be self-titled. I wanted there to be absolutely zero context for the songs. I wanted the music to speak for itself and let the listeners interpret the lyrics without any pre-existing knowledge or background information. Since our release, we’ve been building a following in our hometown of Richmond, VA, and have spread southward to cities in North Carolina such as Charlotte, Raleigh, and Winston Salem. There is going to be much more to come from us next time we release music. Much more…
